CALA China Earthquake Relief Fund Donation Form

On May 12, a deadly earthquake (7.9 on the Richter scale) hit Sichuan Province of China. Fifty-two major aftershocks, ranging in magnitude from 4.4 to 6.0, were recorded within 72 hours of the main tremor. It was the deadliest and strongest earthquake hit China in three decades.

Rescue teams have yet to reach some of the hardest hit areas closest to the epicenter due to roadways that were completely damaged or blocked off by landslides.

• More than 69,163 confirmed dead and 374,142 injured (as of June 15)
• More than 1 million homes have collapsed
• About 4.8 million homeless
• Nearly 17,455 still missing
• 7,000 schools destroyed, including the one having at least 900 young students
• No electricity, little drinkable water, and little food in affected areas

CALA will direct all collected funds to the Library Society of China for the rebuilding of libraries affected by the earthquake in Sichuan, China.
