  1. It is one of the worst one in the past 3 decades.
  2. It happened during the day while people were at work and children were in schools.

Missing:                        18,195             Injured:           374,216
Stay in Hospitals:        95,858            After Shocks:   18,191 times from 3.0 up to 6.4 magnitude

  1. Dr. ShaLi Zhang, CALA 2008/2009 President appoints a Taskforce on Rebuilding Libraries in the Earthquake Disastrous Areas in China
  2. To communicate and work with CALA officers, the Library Society of China (LSC) and other related organizations
  3. To raise funds and prepare grant proposal to assist:
    1. Rebuilding libraries                   
    2. Purchasing furniture & equipment
    3. Purchasing computer and software, resources
    4. Purchasing Collections and resources
    5. Training, etc.
