2003 CALA Scholarship Awards
Dori Hsiao: recipient of the 2003 C.C. Seetoo/CALA Conference Travel Scholarship
With a BA in English from UC Berkeley, Ms. Hsiao is planning to receive the Masters of Library & Information Science (MLIS) from the Department of Information Studies, UCLA, this June. Her library experience included working at the Harrison Memorial Library in Carmel, California, and volunteering at San Francisco Public Library's Chinatown branch. She also worked at the Walt Disney Imagineering Information Resource Library. Currently, she is an intern at the UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History. Her professional focus is primarily with the metadata, thesauri, and digital resources. She is interested in developing innovative and elegant library tools, and providing efficient reference services to support public's needs for joyful learning experience.
Yu Su: recipient of the 2003 Huang Tso-ping and Wu Yao-yu Scholarship
Yu Su is currently a Master's degree candidate at the School of Library Science, University of Arizona. She received her B.A. in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. At the University of Arizona, Yu has worked as the Student Assistant in the East Asian Collection and as a Graduate Research Assistant. She has distinguished herself with several research projects, among them one on "Digital Library of Information Science and Technology," which has been accepted by the International Poster Session at the 2003 ALA/CLA Annual Conference.
